If there is one online community I truly admire, it would have to be the food blogging community. I've been trying to become part of it for a very long time. The reality of it is, I bake often and I'm actually good at it. However, when it comes to cooking a typical dinner, I just don't have it in me. I'm trying to change that. Not only because my boyfriend's mother has told me to, but also because I actually want to.
I've been taking baby steps. And trust me, when I say baby steps, I really mean it. Today I am making tortellini. Not from scratch or anything, straight out of the bag. I'm boiling some water right now. My boyfriend, Anthony, is working nights this week and he is taking a nap before dinner and then heading out.
We've been living together for nearly 2 years and he's the only one who's done any cooking thus far. I have baked plenty and most of my final products have been successful. But I think it's time I put on my big-girl pants and start making dinner on my own.
I've been a follower of bakedbree for almost a year now and have tried many of her recipes. Reading her blog today, I learned about Jennie and Mikey Perillo. If you don't know their story, you can read about it here. It has not only brought tears to my eyes, but it has inspired me. I am looking forward to making my own peanut butter pie this weekend.
Not only did I learn about the Perillos, but I also learned about Ava's Tea Party. Ava Rosemeyer would have been 8 years old yesterday. To learn more about Ava, click here.
I found out about these beautiful and inspiring people through Bree's food blog. I do not know these women, but their life stories hit close to home and my heart goes out to them.
To sum things up, this blog is about my day-to-day life and more specifically, about my journey in the kitchen. I hope you enjoy it!
XOXO,
Marge
